Weaving Teacher Unexpectedly I fell crazy in love with weaving from my very first basket! I love the feel of natural fibres running through my fingers, the rhythmic flow of the stitches, the endless creative possibilities and the meditative state that one falls into. I love the circles of women chattering, friendships that form, the nourishing care expressed and the bursting wild excitement as the creative juices flow. In 2015 I learnt to weave from Kate Rydge and Ingrid Riverstone of ‘Bare Weaving’. In 2016 I was introduced to Kate’s adopted mother Roslyn, from an Arnhem land lineage of master weavers. Roslyn is one of the dearest people I have ever meet, her hugs have t…

2023 Sleep Bus Fundraiser
No one deserves to be homeless - The SleepBus initiative will help give a safe night sleep to up to 20 people per night. Together with Lifehouse Care the SleepBus Fundraiser is well on the way to reaching the target goal of $100,000 to bring this hotel pod on wheels to Coffs Harbour for emergency overnight accommodation. I had the honour and privilege of being involved on the day. A very big thankyou to Doris Rake for organising the event, and to Alison Paul from NBN news for her talented MC'ing, and thank you to all attendees, bidders and donators (especially one very generous couple who donated $20,000). Lastly a personal thank you to my wonderful and very supportive wife Janie Bourne for handling the Door Entry and Raffle Ticket sales.
The event was held on Saturday the 13th of May at Coffs Surf Club Restaurant and Bar.

He noticed the hospital could do with another set of wheels… a self-propelled wheelchair to be precise, so he turned to his Facebook friends for help. Having located a near-new $1500 high-end wheelchair for $300, Michael asked for donations and within three hours, hit his target. Today, Michael handed over the ultra-light wheelchair to Chief Physiotherapist Greg Ewart (in the blue shirt) where it will be …
Reachout Australia
Did you know that suicide is the leading cause of death for young people in Australia? That means that each year, more young people die by suicide than in car accidents or from cancer.
By sponsoring my participation in Laps for Life, you'll be helping ReachOut achieve its mission of ensuring that all young people have the support they need to be happy and well.
March 2021, I’m challenging myself to swim to save lives.https://www.lapsforlife.com.au/fundraiser/michaelbourne
